- American Opportunity Tax Credit

The American Opportunity Tax Credit enables you to get a tax credit up to a maximum of $2500 for qualified educational expenses. This tax credit is available for the first two years of college or university. You must be enrolled at least half-time and pursuing an undergraduate degree or other recognized educational credential.
